Who controls your data

Sofia Car Hire Info operates sofiacarhire.com and is the controller of the personal data described on this page. You can reach us at [email protected].

What we collect

Search details. The pickup and drop-off locations and dates you enter, so we can show you cars that exist for those dates. This is not tied to your identity.

Booking details. When you proceed with a booking, the name, contact details and flight information you provide are passed to the rental supplier you chose. They need them to hand you a car.

Messages and reviews. Anything you send us, plus the name and location you attach to a review you ask us to publish.

Technical data. IP address, browser, device type, pages viewed and how you arrived. This is ordinary web server and analytics data.

What we do not collect

We do not take payments, so we never see or store your card number. We do not collect your driving licence, passport or any identity document. Those are shown to the supplier at the handover and never pass through this site.

Why we are allowed to use it

To perform the service you asked for, when you make a booking request and we pass it to a supplier. On our legitimate interest in running and improving a working website, for technical logs and aggregate analytics. On your consent, for any non-essential cookie, which you can withdraw at any time.

Who we share it with

The rental supplier you choose, and only for the booking you asked for. Our hosting and infrastructure providers, who process data on our instructions. Analytics providers, in aggregated form. Authorities, where the law requires it.

We do not sell your personal data and we do not pass it to advertisers.

Where it is processed

Primarily within the European Economic Area. Where a provider processes data outside it, we rely on the safeguards the GDPR provides for such transfers.

How long we keep it

Booking correspondence for as long as needed to deal with questions or claims about that rental. Server logs for a short technical retention period. Published reviews until you ask us to remove them. Analytics in aggregate, where individuals are no longer identifiable.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can:

• Ask what personal data we hold about you
• Ask us to correct anything that is wrong
• Ask us to delete it
• Object to processing we base on our legitimate interests
• Withdraw consent for analytics or marketing cookies at any time
• Complain to your national data protection authority

This site is for adults renting vehicles. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We update this page when what we do changes. The date at the top shows when it last moved, and material changes will be obvious rather than buried.
